On June 1, Laura Kenny, MD, joins Town Plaza OB/GYN and the staff of Menorah Medical Center. Town Plaza OB/GYN, part of Midwest Physicians and HCA Midwest Health System, is recognized for its advanced women’s care in a vibrant and personalized environment.
A leader in KC women’s care for more than 20 years, Dr. Kenny has used the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System to perform nearly 100 minimally invasive gynecologic procedures. The advanced technology offers nearly zero blood loss during surgery and a quicker recovery time than traditional or even current laparoscopic methods. “The da Vinci Surgical System overcomes the limitations of both traditional open surgery and conventional minimally invasive surgery,” says Dr. Kenny, who began using the robotic surgical system in 2009. “The combination of superlative optics with 3-D definition and the ability to make precise movements through the smallest of incisions allows even women with large fibroids, severe endometriosis, or other complex pelvic pathology to undergo a minimally-invasive laparoscopic procedure.” Dr. Kenny also has extensive experience with women who have estrogen receptor positive breast cancer or BRCA mutations and that desire removal of their ovaries with minimal interruption to their lives. Dr. Kenny will continue to offer da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery at Menorah Medical Center.
Dr. Kenny joins Makeba Williams, MD, at Town Plaza OB/GYN. The practice offers a full spectrum of gynecologic and obstetric services, including minimally invasive and robotic surgery, management of menopausal symptoms, evaluation and treatment of abnormal PAP smears, treatment of abnormal or heavy menses, alternatives to hysterectomy, contraception, pregnancy care, and well woman exams.
