Shazia Walijan-Munir, MD, has joined Quivira Internal Medicine and the medical staff of Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Dr. Walijan-Munir is board-certified in internal medicine and has specific clinical interest in preventative health care, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, obesity and diabetes management. She is also a fellow in the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Walijan-Munir graduated from DOW University of Health Sciences in Pakistan and came to the United States to pursue further education and training. She completed a three-year residency in internal medicine at Berkshire Medical Center, University of Massachusetts, where she was chief resident for a year. In addition to her expertise in direct patient care, Dr. Walijan-Munir has a strong academic background, teaching internal medicine to residents and students from the University of Massachusetts. She recently moved to Kansas City to be with her family after practicing internal medicine in Pittsfield, Mass.

Quivira Internal Medicine, a multi-specialty practice, is conveniently located on the campus of Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Johnson County. All of the physicians in the practice are board-certified. In addition to the practice’s in-house laboratory, Quivira Internal Medicine has the ability to perform full X-rays and bone densities (DEXA), administer and interpret cardiac event monitors and glucose testing, provide diabetic education and more.
