Karmel Carothers, MD, a board-certified internal medicine physician, has joined Family Care of Independence, part of Midwest Physicians, a network of experienced, multi-specialty physicians located throughout the greater Kansas City area. Midwest Physicians is part of HCA Midwest Health System, Kansas City’s largest healthcare network and private-sector employer.
Dr. Carothers is a well-known and respected medical professional in the community and has practiced medicine in Independence for 20 years. Prior to joining Family Care of Independence, Dr. Carothers was with Centerpoint Physicians, part of Midwest Physicians, and also saw patients at Centerpoint Medical Center. With her move to Family Care of Independence, Dr. Carothers will focus on outpatient care. Her clinical interests include being an advisor to her patients in helping them maintain their good health.
Dr. Carothers received her medical degree from the University of Kansas Medical School and completed her residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisc. She is board-certified in internal medicine by the American College of Physicians. Dr. Carothers is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American College of Physicians (ACP). She is a member of the board of trustees and has privileges at Centerpoint Medical Center and is past president of the former Independence Regional Medical Center.
