Dr. Anne Kobbermann, Breast Surgical Oncologist

A Kansas City-area woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 40 years old said her heart goes out to ABC News correspondent Amy Robach, who just got a cancer diagnosis of her own.

Shannon Price said she knows how traumatic the news and the prospect of treatment are for Robach, whose doctor detected the cancer during an on-air mammography on "Good Morning America" last month.

Price said she had a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery within a few weeks of discovering her lump.

Her doctor at Overland Park Regional Medical Center said there's no doubt that screening saves lives, but Price said she was hesitant at first.

Dr. Anne Kobberman said it's important for women to focus on the risk, even if they don't think their chances of getting cancer are high.
